Through a youngin's lens

Leang is the 5-and-a-half-year-old son of my 27-year-old girlfriend Dalis. He lives at the apartment shared by his mom, grandmom and two aunts, but comes to hang at my pad a couple times a week. I dominate him in wrestling and Winning 11 for Playstation II, but he is already challenging my photography skills.

The other day he was in an exploratory state-of-mind and stumbled upon my point-and-shoot Canon camera. After a brief tutorial on proper wrist-strap security, I let him loose and he spent the better part of an hour capturing the people and props in the apartment. I took the first photo employing the classic extended-arm self-shoot technique and include it only so you can see what the prodigal photog looks like. The rest of the photos are uncropped, unedited and independant.in their conception and creation.

You can get high quality prints of these photos by sending $200 or $400 to my P.O. box in Cambodia and I can hand it off to the little man and send you a high-resolution digital file so you can sort out the printing at your neighborhood Kinkos.

Catch you on the flip,

-C
