A potent nightcap

I tried to go to sleep, but after a few minutes of pillow flipping I decided that leaving my discovery list at such an odd number was unacceptable. Here are 3 diamonds from the quarries for you to sleep on, or wake up to, or ignore if you are one of the 6,929,999,991 people who didn't read this blog yesterday.

502: Honker Duckie Dinger Jamboree: a feel-good track if ever there was one. One of Ernie's break-out performances on his way to becoming the Dick Clark of puppet singalongs; as smooth today as he was when this short and swingin' music video aired in 1978. (I came across this track in this opinionated and entertaining piece on The Muppets from The Awl).

501: The continued use by Slate of the title "Genocidal Tyrant" when referring to Rupert Murdoch, the term "reverse ferret" used by one of his countless weaselly editors and the continued extraordinary work by Nick Davies of the Guardian, who in his relentless investigation into News International has provided a counterbalance to the journalistic scum he has helped uncover in the Queen's country.

500: Prezi.com: a zooming alternative to PowerPoint that may yet be accepted in stodgy business circles, but is infinitely cooler than a slogging series of slides. Check out this one that I made for a presentation to the Department of Media and Communications at the State university in Phnom Penh or have a gander at hundreds of other virtual knowledge trips. Below is a brief tutorial if you aren't ready to jump in without your floaties.

That feels better. Check you later.
